Introduction # 3

Hi, I'm Steph, I'm originally from Marathon, Ontario, but I've lived all over the province over the years. I moved to Kitchener with my husband and daughter in August 2009.

I first started babywearing when my little girl was 6 weeks old, She's two now, and my new baby boy is now 7 weeks old. I started out with a ring sling and a mei tei, and eventually I moved on to wrapping and SSC's when my daughter was 11 months old. I still love my ring slings the most, and wear my son in them regularly. I even occasionally wear both kids at the same time.

This group has been a huge help for me, I've made some wonderful friends, and tried some wonderful carriers. I'm looking forward to our little group growing and evolving, and can't wait to see you at the next meeting!

~Steph

Introduction #2

Hi,
I'm Rianne, I'm a first time mom to a 10 month old girl. I'm originally from The Netherlands, but moved to Cambridge in 2001.
I researched a lot during my pregnancy, and that is how I found babywearing. I bought a stretchy wrap at that time. I loved having my newborn that close to me.
I got my first hybrid stretchy wrap (wrapsody bali stretch) when my daughter was 2 months old, and I started wearing her on my back. I have been trying out different carriers since then, and have found out I'm a wrapper at heart.
I have met some great friends through the babywearing group, and hope to meet lots more.

See you at the next babywearing meeting.

August babywearing meeting

This is a little late, but thought I would still let everyone know how the meeting went.
We had a pretty good turnout for the first time. We had 7 people in total, and a bunch of kids. It was crazy, but a lot of fun.
People tried on different carriers and we helped with some back carries.
The kids had a good time playing with each other and the baby toys. We also had some colouring stuff, and some snacks.

September has been really busy for all of us. Meg has started University and her son started JK.
I've been getting ready for my trip to The Netherlands to see my family and introduce Lauren to them. WE will get better at organizing monthly meetings, I promise.

Angelpack LX

Today Lauren and I tried out the Angelpack. We have had it at our house for a while now, but only tried it on around the house.

First of all, I love the way it looks, the colours are great and it's reversible. The seat is nice and wide, and it reaches from knee to knee on Lauren. The body is pretty tall, with the little flap up, it reaches to the top of Lauren's head. I would put the flap down when she was awake, and up when she was sleeping. I didn't use the sleepyhood that it comes with.

It was very easy to put on, you just clip on the waistbelt, then hold your child against you, and put the straps over your shoulders. I made a cross on my back with the straps. It was pretty comfortable. I had it on for about an hour and a half, and walked around the mall.
It's definitly not as hot as my Girasol Jungle. And Lauren seemed to enjoy it. She even fell asleep, and that's always a good test here.

Overall I would definitly use it again, I will actually bring it to the cottage next week, and see if I can convince my husband to try it.
But I'm a wrap kind of girl, I love the way the wrap sits on my shoulders better then the Angelpack, I found the straps slid towards my neck a bit too much. But maybe I should try it with the straps like a backpack.
I will have to try it on my back as well, that will be for another time.

Has anyone else tried this carrier? What did you think of it?

August babywearing meeting

We have set a date and time for our August babywearing meeting.
It will be held on thursday Aug 26 at 9am, in Cambridge. You can leave a message with your email, so I can send you the address.

It will be a general get to know each other meeting. We have a lending library with a selection of carriers that we will demonstrate, and that you will be able to try on/borrow.
If you have a carrier you need help with, please bring it along.
Are there specific carries you want to try out, let us know and one of us will help you out.

You are more then welcome to bring children along. There will be some toys for younger children, and a few craft supplies as well, but if you have older children you might want to bring something along to entertain them.
We ask that you do not bring any peanut/tree nut products to these meetings as our members have children with allergies.

If you can't make this meeting, no worries, there will be more. We are working on a set schedule starting september.

Hope to see you there.

Let's get started

We are still working on some of the details, but I wanted to get this blog up, so people can find out about us.
We are a new babywearing group in Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge, Ontario.

We are very excited to meet different people in the area who are interested in babywearing.
We love wearing our babies, and want to share this love with other people.

* Ever tried to get on a bus with a stroller, or listened to your baby cry while you try to do housework?
* Have a carrier but you don't really know how to use it, or can't get a comfortable fit?
* You are interested in a carrier, but don't know which one would work for you.
* You are an experienced baby wearer, and would like to share your experience.

Then come out and meet us.
We will have monthly meetings, dates and times to be determined.

Hope to hear from you soon.
